Vaccination Requirements

The three most common illnesses that we vaccinate our cats for are, Feline Panleukopenia
(FPV), Herpesvirus and Calicivirus.  These vaccinations are often given as a single called a
'three-in-one' injection.

All cats should be first vaccinated around 12 wks of age, a booster given 3-4 weeks later and an annual vaccination, to maintain adequate protection.

All cats must be fully vaccinated before coming into the cattery and the certificate (passport) must be presented on admission. There is often confusion about the interpretation of 'fully'  and unfortunately, it does not only vary between catteries but ask a couple of vets, and they will often give you a different answer aswell.

Please remember that there is never 100% guarantee with any vaccine but the best form of defense is to have an annual vet check & include a vaccination.  If a vaccinated cat contracts cat flu, it is usually fairly minor and antibiotics are given to prevent secondary infection.

Our Requirements: (through direct discussion with the drug manufacturers).

*If your cat is under one year it must have received at least 2 vaccinations, 3-4 wks apart.
*If your cat is 5 years or under and has been vaccinated annually,the last vaccination must not exceed 10 months, prior to boarding.
*If your cat is over 5 years and has been vaccinated annually,the last vaccination must not  exceed 12 months, prior to boarding.
*If your cat is due for a booster prior to admittance, have this done at least 7 days before.

OR: Perhaps you have adopted an adult cat and have no idea of its vaccination history or your  cats last vaccination exceeds two years - In this case, the cat will require a vaccination with a booster 3-4 weeks later.  The cat can then be admitted after the 7 day standdown.
